ROYAL OAK, MI, July 09, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Polly GH Tan, RN, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Now retired after a successful career in health care, Ms. GH Tan worked for two years in the maternity ward at a local hospital in Detroit, followed by a tenured position in Royal Oak, Michigan. Trained in midwifery, she was unable to practice her specialty in Michigan because those positions were not available there at that time. After departing from the field, Ms. GH Tan began dedicating her free time to teaching and playing piano at three area churches.
Educating children and adults on how to play piano, Ms. GH Tan garnered additional experience through private lessons for her former patients. In fact, she fondly recalls that a young piano student of hers was selected among 10 boys to sing a solo in the locally filmed silent movie "Armed Man." Focusing more of her time on volunteer efforts, she currently excels with a local organization called ArtSoul. Ms. GH Tan aspires to become more involved with retired citizens in the near future as well.
Ms. Gh Tan notably earned a Bachelor of Art in music at Oakland University. Having completed coursework in music in Austria, she attended a study-abroad program for a semester in Vienna. Prior to relocating to the U.S. in 1972, she enrolled in nursing training in England and Scotland in 1967. Her inspiration for becoming a nurse emerged from her upbringing. After her mother suffered from cancer, Ms. GH Tan realized that she wanted to find something that would enable her to care for others.
To support her musical endeavors, Ms. GH Tan became a member of the Music Teachers National Association. She is also acknowledged as a longtime member of Tuesday Musicale of Detroit. Recognized with over 50 impeccable evaluations during her years in nursing, she was always very fond of her patients and vice versa. Believing healthcare to have been an extremely rewarding field, Ms. GH Tan is glad for having had such a wonderful career for all of those years.
