After serving in the construction industry for many years, Mr. Snowder began his career as an instrument technician for Qal-Tek Associates while finishing his business degree. While working as a technician servicing radiation detection equipment through the transformation of our country after 9/11, Travis foresaw a need to and began to design a path for Qal-Tek Associates to deliver it. Since his time as a technician, Travis worked his way into sales, then management and eventually worked his way to the executive level, by trading performance for promotion and company ownership. As an executive of Qal-Tek, he negotiated the purchase of an instrument manufacturing WB Johnson Instruments, designed an asset management and tracking system for instrumentation and developed revolutionary training and exercise standards for the radiological and nuclear response teams. Today, Qal-Tek and its sister organization WB Johnson Instruments provide the military, first responders, construction and engineering, professionals and many other industries with innovative and needed safety and security solutions. Primarily, his leadership oversees teams which perform instrument and gauge calibration, training and exercise, safety program development and evaluation, as well as the collection and processing of radioactive materials to federal and commercial disposal facilities.
In a career that has been suffused with highlights, Mr. Snowder is most proud of a few key highlights. One of his first accomplishments occurred early in his career with the mobilization of calibration services for the construction and engineering industry. This mobilization of calibration services created a complete transformation in the geotechnical and soils engineering industry and nearly 15 years later, Qal-Tek is still setting the standard for onsite service. Later in his career, he and his team saw a need to support our nation's responders and military with a way to manage their equipment. He created an automated method of managing instrumentation and has proven its success through their work with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). Qal-Tek is currently completing its 13th year managing thousands of pieces of instrumentation to ensure their accuracy and reliability, while playing an important role in improving the safety of New York City firefighters and the public which they serve. In addition to creating the systems at FDNY, Travis led his team in developing and designing realistic and valuable radiological and nuclear exercises and curriculums. These curriculums have changed the standard for preparing our nation's response and defense organizations the ability to respond to nuclear and radiological threats. This thirst for problem resolution using innovation has resulted in a long resume of valuable solutions created a culture within his organizations which are renowned for their delivery of solution driven services and programs.
An expert in his field, Mr. Snowder completed coursework in business, management, marketing and related support services through Boise State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing from American Intercontinental University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the National Defense Industrial Association, ASTM and the Health Physics Society. In conjunction with his work, he serves as a board member with Hero's Defense 9/11. For his outstanding body of work, he won the 40 Under 40 Award in 2016 and 2017, as well as a Best Business Award in 2019. Looking toward the future, Mr. Snowder foresees making his services more available and accessible to the entire world, while expanding available services to all of Qal-Tek and WB Johnson's locations in Georgia, Texas, Arizona, New York, Alabama, Pennsylvania and Idaho.
