Drawing a wealth of inspiration from her mother, Ms. Ward received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Arts in counseling and guidance from Marshall University, a Master of Business Administration from Columbus State University, and an Associate of Science in health services management and nursing home administration from St. Petersburg College. Eminently qualified she also bears extensive certification as an adult living facility administrator, nursing home administrator preceptor, and a legal nurse consultant.
Though she is now retired, Ms. Ward held countless positions in nursing at medical institutions, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. She began her professional journey as a staff nurse at West Virginia University Hospital and then at Charlestown, WV Memorial Hospital before traveling with her military husband. She then returned to Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial and General Divisions as unit manager and assistant director of nursing at the General Division upon the return from positions in San Antonio, Texas and Denver, Colorado military and community hospitals. Ms. Ward subsequently held several staff nursing positions before rising to become the director of nursing at H.D. Cobb Memorial Hospital, after which she found additional success as the vice president of nursing at Venice Memorial Hospital.
Throughout the course of her professional path, Ms. Ward worked at Bon Secours-Venice Hospital, the State College of Florida, the Sun Terrace Rehabilitation Center, Beneva Lakes Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, and the Consulate Health Care of Sarasota. She spent the last year of her career before retirement as a legal nurse consultant. Additionally, Ms. Ward offered her expertise as a clinical instructor at Chattahoochee Valley Community College and as a support services consultant in the field.
In a career suffused with highlights, Ms. Ward is most proud to have become the vice president of nursing at Venice Memorial Hospital, as it represented a culmination of her years of hard work in the field. In accounting for her standout success, she credits her singular dedication and drive to exceed the expectations of others. Furthermore, Ms. Ward's triumphs were also inspired by her desire to help those in need.
