Dr. Cynthia Blodgett-Griffin is an adult educator with career experience specializing in online and distance education. She received a Bachelor of Science in graphic communications and advertising from Minnesota State University. Following graduation, she founded Blodgett Learning Systems where she specialized in print technology and graphic design, and taught graphic design software at community college. As a successful business leader, she went on to graduate school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned a Master of Arts in adult education. One of her accomplishments was to establish the first distance education teacher training institute for adult basic educators in Nebraska. During this time, her research focused on critical thinking and adult basic education curriculum.

Dr. Blodgett-Griffin received her Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the College of Education and Human Sciences with a research focus on post-secondary students with mild traumatic brain injury. Dr. Blodgett-Griffin has been a resource for online students with head and brain injuries with strategies to succeed in higher education. While pursuing her doctoral studies, Dr. Blodgett-Griffin worked with an instructional design team on a grant to establish online curriculum for a distance education high school.

During this time, Dr. Blodgett-Griffin began teaching at an internationally prestigious university in the open, digital, and distance education graduate degree division. She has taught over 15 master's and doctoral courses, including research methods and proposal development. Dr. Blodgett-Griffin has chaired many thesis and doctoral committees. As a respected educator in her field, Dr. Blodgett-Griffin has written and co-authored for various industry publications and organizations. Her book, Mild traumatic brain injury and information access on the World Wide Web, draws from her research for her doctoral dissertation, A grounded theory study of the process of accessing the information on the World Wide Web by people with mild traumatic brain injury. She continues to apply her extensive research and publishing knowledge to support her former students to publish their research in academic journals.

Throughout her teaching career, Dr. Blodgett-Griffin has drawn extensively from the influence of her own professors and mentors, who offered continual support throughout her university education. She finds this to be an asset as she seeks to continually improve her teaching and mentoring skills. Looking toward the future, Dr. Blodgett-Griffin plans to continue online teaching, and to draw from her teacher training experience to train educators who are developing their skills to teach at a distance.
