Congratulations to the 2021 Divorce Matters Scholarship Recipient, Paola Gascot-Chinea!

Divorce Matters is proud to announce the recipient of our 2021 Divorce Matters Scholarship

DENVER, CO, September 16, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Divorce Matters is proud to announce the recipient of our 2021 Divorce Matters Scholarship: Paola Gascot-Chinea. While we received a lot of qualified applications, Paola's academic involvement, work ethic, and abundance of extracurricular's that positively affected her community stood out and greatly impressed our committee. This Fall, Paola enters her second year at Denver University and is majoring in Environmental Science.

Paola's achievements and community engagement made her application stand out above the rest. In high school, she was involved in the Student Equity Working Group and the Hispanic Latino Student Alliance, was a founding member of the Women's Forum, volunteered at Our Turn (a non-profit organization bringing equality to the classroom and education as a whole) and the Children's Hospital of Aurora, and played tennis and ran cross country. In college, Paola has furthered her interest in the environment by joining a living learning community for environmental sustainability. She also has become a member of the Pi Lambda Chi sorority for Latina students.

When asked what this scholarship meant to her, Paola told Divorce Matters, "This scholarship means everything to me. As I answer these questions, I feel emotional, and I feel the urge to cry happy tears! I have worked so hard, and I have gone through so much that it feels amazing to know that all that hard work has paid off. It's even more of a relief that I can focus on my studies and take it one day at a time. I don't have to be rushing or finding ways to pay for my education, as I do pay for my own studies."

We are honored to award this scholarship to Paola and touched by her care for others and the environment. We wish her the very best as she pursues an Environmental Science degree at Denver University and good luck with her goal of making a difference in communities of color and low-income communities. Paola would like to say this to those reading this: "Anything is possible if you set your mind to it. At the moment it may feel like not much is going to happen, but results don't usually start showing until further down the road and it is more than okay to fail because that is how you learn. That is how you become a better person."

We would also like to thank all those who applied and wish you all the very best in your academic endeavors and life goals!
