Prior to obtaining his current role in 2010, he gained valuable expertise in the field as a senior mechanical engineer for several companies, including Drilling Controls Inc., Vetco Gray Control Inc. and ABB Offshore Systems. Previously, Mr. McLelland worked as a design engineer for Varco, a staff engineer MH Koomey and a project engineer for NL Shaffer.
Since beginning in the field in the mid-1980s, Mr. McLelland has worked on a variety of projects, including Shell Kulluk, Blackford Dolphin, BP Thunderhorse, Deepwater Discovery, Deepwater Expedition, Statoil Sleipner, Rowan Bob Palmer and Exxon North Flourite. Among his career accomplishments, he has received a patent for a valve design. Additionally, Mr. McLelland earned recognition for his years of service on committees at the American Petroleum Institute.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. McLelland earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston. Though his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud of the work he does with McLelland Consulting. In the coming years, Mr. McLelland intends to remain focused on sustaining the long term prospects of the company.
