Specializing in geriatric care, Ms. Tsosie recently retired from her career as a charge nurse at Sharmar Village Senior Care Community in Pueblo, Colorado. Family owned, the facility offers services in long-term care, memory care, assisted living, independent living and rehabilitation. Having retired due to complications from the coronavirus, Ms. Tsosie aspires to return to the health care field in the near future. In the meantime, she hopes to be remembered by her fellow staff members and her patients as a loving and compassionate caregiver who stood for what she believed in.
Developing a passion for poetry during her youth, Ms. Tsosie recently began writing again and publishing her work. She finds great reward in being able to connect with readers through her pieces, and has also been recognized with several poetry awards from the International Society of Poets, where she has been an active member since college. Likewise, Ms. Tsosie often attended symposiums held by the organization in Washington, D.C.
Locally, Ms. Tsosie holds membership with the Native American Dance Group and the People of the First Nation. She initially became involved in her field after studying at a local community college, where she acquired an associate's degree.
