BROAD RUN, VA, October 05, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sabry A. Alsharkawi has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Alsharkawi, the owner and managing director of Sharkawi Farm in Broad Run, Virginia, has been growing various organic produce on his 13.5-acre farm for over 35 years since 1985. As one of the very first farmers in the United States to grow and sell organically, green farming includes a variety of agricultural methods to ensure that his products are properly vegetated. This type of farming includes using beneficial insects that feed on bad insects, as well as applying a plant-based oil as opposed to the conventional pesticide or fungicide, to ensure that his produce is 100% organic.
Unlike non-organic farmers, Mr. Alsharkawi focuses on quality instead of quantity, making his farm one-of-a-kind. In addition he offers customers chemical-free potted herbs, flowering perennial plants, fruit trees, teas, spices and dried lavender.
In addition to overseeing his obligations on the farm, Mr. Alsharkawi oversees the planning and buying decisions that go into the success of his business. He also frequently speaks at various events about herbs and organic ways of managing an affordable garden. Additionally, he often participates at local farmers' markets.
Grateful for his trusting customers, the individuals who buy from Mr. Alsharkawi believe in him and his products. He even has several individuals that have since moved to Europe from the United States and have their orders shipped overseas. In the coming years, Mr. Alsharkawi hopes to see a decline in organic prices and that more people will consider the greenway agriculture. He also hopes that individuals will decrease the use of emissions, conventional pesticides and chemicals that are causing bad health.
Mr. Alsharkawi notably studied in Egypt at Alexandria University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in agricultural engineering in 1977. After college, he spent time in the United Arab Emirates working in research centers. To support his work, Mr. Alsharkawi is a member of Virginia Finest and the Virginia Department of Agriculture. In recognition of his success, he was honored with a Best of Broad Run Award in the local business category in 2021.
Mr. Alsharkawi also was appointed by the National Republican Congressional Committee as a business advisory council, in recognition of outstanding service, and in particular for assistance and leadership in promoting a pro-business agenda including tax reform, and fiscal responsibility.
