Affiliated with the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District in Pocatello, Idaho, Mr. Sorrell currently teaches courses in business technology, computers, insurance and personal finance at Highland High School. In addition to his responsibilities as an educator, he was recruited as the head baseball coach for the Pocatello American Legion Baseball in 2018. Dedicated to the overall success of the program, Mr. Sorrell also supervises several coaches beneath him who help develop athletes throughout the program.
With more than 20 years of coaching experience to his credit, Mr. Sorrell found success for 9 years as a high school baseball coach and nearly 18 years as a high school football coach for Highland High School in Pocatello. Attributing his success to the positive relationships that he was able to form with his players, Mr. Sorrell has been enjoying his new role with Pocatello American Legion Baseball.
Mr. Sorrell initially studied at Idaho State University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in business management in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in secondary education in 2010. He graduated from Highland High School in 2003. Furthermore, Mr. Sorrell is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the Idaho Business Education Association.
In 2020, Mr. Sorrell won the baseball state title for Idaho, which was noted as the first Pocatello win since 1986 and the first championship under his leadership as head coach. He was also celebrated for leading two state-titled football teams as defense coordinator at his high school from 2014 to 2017. Additionally, Mr. Sorrell was recognized in the Top 20 Under 40 by Idaho State Journal in 2016.
