Coptic Orphans Announces Maged Atiya Scholarship Winner

International Christian Development Organization Awards Scholarship to Student at Northwestern

FAIRFAX, VA, November 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Coptic Orphans awards the second Maged Atiya scholarship to Sara Ibrahim, a second-year university student from Northwestern University.

The merit-based scholarship was established in memory of Maged Atiya, a renowned physicist, entrepreneur, and intellectual. The scholarship serves the organization's mission to engage the Coptic Diaspora in issues deemed important to the welfare and status of Copts in Egypt.

"The aim of this initiative is to support exceptional intellectual acumen and character of young Copts," says Nermien Riad, Coptic Orphans' Founder and Executive Director, who care deeply about the future and welfare of their community in Egypt.

Millions of Copts have emigrated from Egypt to the United States in the past few decades yet remain underrepresented in the fields of journalism, government, and policy making. The scholarship encourages a generation of promising Coptic American youth to embark on their higher education journey in prestigious U.S. universities in the fields of Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, and International Relations.

Coptic Orphans is an award-winning international Christian development organization that unlocks the God-given potential of vulnerable children in Egypt, and so equips them to break the cycle of poverty and become change-makers in their communities. Since 1988, Coptic Orphans has transformed the lives of over 65,000 children in Egypt. To learn more, visit http://www.copticorphans.org or email [email protected].
