CAGUAS, PUERTO RICO, November 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carmen Miranda, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A devoted educator of four decades, Dr. Miranda's passion for teaching has consistently grown throughout her career, leading her to her current role as an assistant professor at Universidad Ana G. Mendez in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Teaching at the university-level since 2008, she also supports the school writing center and is active with the university organization that works with the community in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, Dr. Miranda taught grade school, middle and high school within the public school system for 33 years.

To prepare for her career in education, Dr. Miranda earned a bachelor's degree in elementary and secondary education from Universidad de Puerto Rico and a master's degree in English as a second language from Universidad Ana G. Mendez. Despite being settled into her career, she realized that she wanted to continue working and bring herself to the next level professionally. With this in mind, Dr. Miranda attained a Doctor of Education in curriculum instruction from Capella University.

Passionate about teaching and helping her students achieve their life goals, Dr. Miranda has been honored as Teacher of the Year by the public school system. Noting this accolade as a highlight of her career, she finds it most rewarding to see her past students excelling in their professional endeavors today. Having also been featured in various articles, she is the author of the dissertation, "Generation Z: Rethinking, Teaching and Learning," published in TESOLgram.

To remain abreast of changes in her industry, Dr. Miranda maintains affiliation with the International Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and Puerto Rico Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, of which she has served as president of the Eastern chapter since 2020. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue expanding upon her leadership and teaching abilities, as well as continue taking courses and traveling.
