For the past 15 years in Massachusetts, Mr. Feeney has been the managing partner at Feeney & Associates at Law. With over three decades of legal experience, he specializes in helping individuals establish and incorporate small businesses, while helping them draft employment policies, contracts, and assisting in litigating contractual and employment disputes. Mr. Feeney's practice specializes in construction law, and in commercial and residential landlord/tenant law, while conducting a significant amount of consumer protection and civil rights law and litigation. In one especially significant case, Mr. Feeney was one of the lead counsels in a successful class-action lawsuit defending the rights of the mentally disabled to be free from unlawful incarceration. Mr. Feeney also provides mediation services for a broad range of domestic and commercial disputes, especially in relation to family and business law. Prior to his success with Feeney & Associates at Law, Mr. Feeney served as a law clerk for various federal and state, trial and appellate courts, including three federal judges and the Hawai'i Supreme Court. Although he initially began his professional career in the market research sector, he discovered his talent for resolving disputes while participating as a mediator, trainer, and director of a volunteer mediation program at the Neighborhood Justice Center in Honolulu, Hawai'i, now known as the Mediation Center of the Pacific. In 1991, Mr. Feeney earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, while obtaining a Master of Arts in Political Science/International Conflict Resolution. Both of Mr. Feeney's graduate degrees were completed in conjunction with a research grant from the Environment and Policy Institute of the Center for Cultural and Technical Interchange Between East and West (East-West Center), in Honolulu, Hawai'i. While in Hawai'i, Mr. Feeney participated as a Barrister in the American Inns of Court and was a court-appointed arbitrator.
Mr. Feeney attributes a great deal of his success to his genuine love for the field, attention to detail, and the satisfaction obtained upon seeing people start and succeed in their own small businesses. He attributes his success also, and primarily, to the inspiration provided by his wife and children. He is extremely proud to have resolved critical disputes for many businesses and families during challenging moments in their lives. In the coming years, Mr. Feeney intends to expand upon his reputation as an expert litigator while pursuing a position as an educator, having taught previously at Brandeis University's Legal Studies Program as a Lawrence A. Guberman Fellow, and once as the Course Director for the Law and Veterinary Practice course at Tufts' Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
