Dr. Gonzalez-Gotay was inspired to become a physician by her mother, who enjoyed her own prosperous career as an intensive care unit pediatrician, while simultaneously serving as the community physician for her local community in Puerto Rico. She attributes a great deal of her success to her mother's influence, as well as her perseverance.
