SEATTLE, WA, February 04, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Pela Terry has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Driven to help others due to her inner-city upbringing, Dr. Terry currently excels as the executive director and chief executive officer of Atlantic Street Center, which provides education, family support and behavioral health counseling services to low-income minority populations. As the executive director, she manages and co-manages several contracts for the aforementioned company, many of which are city, county, and state-based contracts. Dr. Terry is also responsible for meeting new people and connecting with others regarding strategic partnership building and collaborative community service.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Terry gained valuable expertise in the field as the chief quality and compliance officer and HIPAA privacy officer for CRVI, Inc. She was additionally active as a guest lecturer for the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher College and an adjunct professor at The College of New Rochelle. With early career success in program development and administration, Dr. Terry began volunteering her time and skills as a pro-bono advisor in New York for start-up nonprofits and governing boards. Outside of her primary responsibilities, for the past 11 years Dr. Terry devotes her time and resources to Heart to Heart Empowerment Inc. as a co-founding Board member. She is currently a member of Women's University Club of Seattle, where she aims to continue collaborating, learning, and partnering with Seattle-based community service and professional leaders.
An expert in her field, Dr. Terry has earned a Master of Public Administration in human services with an emphasis on policy and social justice from The College of New Rochelle and a Doctor of Education in executive leadership from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher College. She completed her dissertation on succession planning needs for the nonprofit sector in hopes of inspiring future research and practices on leadership pipeline development in social service organizations. To remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, she was affiliated with the Society for Corporate Compliance and Ethics, the Health Care Compliance Association, the American Society for Public Administration and the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Due to her outstanding academic efforts, Dr. Terry graduated with double honors from the College of New Rochelle, including the Catherine Haage Award.
Even though her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly grateful for her professional opportunities, the completion of her doctorate, and surviving amidst all of the challenges that she has faced throughout her life. In the coming years, Dr. Terry intends to continue finding success as the chief executive officer of Atlantic Street Center while continuing to develop her own skills as well as those of her team.
