As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Hartwich earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2006 and then completed a fellowship in surgery at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in 2010. In 2013, he completed his residency in general surgery at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Subsequently, he underwent a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in 2015. Dr. Hartwich then attained medical licenses in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Rhode Island.

A board-certified surgeon and pediatric surgeon by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Hartwich has excelled as a pediatric surgeon at Inova Children's Hospital. In this role, he manages congenital anomalies in patients and operates on pediatric patients, from premature babies weighing 500 grams to adolescents. In addition to his primary career path, he has contributed as a co-author of several articles, which have been published in the Journal of Pediatrics. An expert in congenital anomalies and pediatric oncology, Dr. Hartwich was honored with a Humera Research Award and an additional accolades from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Dr. Hartwich credits his success to his many mentors throughout his education and career, especially Dr. Andrew Davidoff, Dr. David Lanning and Dr. Thomas Tracy. Always harboring an interest in science, he decided to work in health care early on to help improve lives. Choosing pediatric surgery as a specialization came from his self-professed fondness for working with children and their parents.

Dr. Hartwich is looking forward to the completion of the world-class pediatric oncology program at Inova Children's Hospital. He plans to continue developing fetal and neonatal care at the institution, which he expects will see exponential growth in the next few years.
