Since 2015, Ms. Zufelt has thrived as a case manager and the coordinator of a regional sobriety program at the 62-B District Court in Kentwood, Michigan. In this capacity, she focuses on helping recovering addicts meet probation requirements, stabilize their personal lives and maintain sobriety. Ms. Zufelt also regularly employs appropriate incentives and sanctions in order to increase the likelihood of her clients' achieving their personal goals.
Alongside her responsibilities as a case manager and program coordinator, Ms. Zufelt maintains active affiliations with the Michigan Association of District Court Probation Officers, the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals and the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. Between 2019 and 2021, she additionally earned a Master of Arts in psychology and addiction counseling, as well as a Master of Arts in criminal justice from Aspen University. Since 2021, Ms. Zufelt has found further success as a secretary and executive board member of the Grand Rapids chapter of Families Against Narcotics after serving as an advisory board member for several years.
While working as a probation secretary for the aforementioned district court, Ms. Zufelt was notably selected as the Employee of the Year. She attributes a great deal of her success to her personal connection to her clients, which stems from her own family's struggles with substance abuse. In the coming years, Ms. Zufelt intends to harness her vast experience with addiction treatment to educate fellow substance abuse specialists about the central purposes of sobriety courts and recovery programs.
