Divine Mercy University's Psy.D. Students Earn APA Accredited Internship Placement

    STERLING, VA, March 02, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Seven out of eight Psy.D. students at Divine Mercy University who participated in the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) Phase 1 pre-doctoral application process matched with an APA-accredited site.

Internships that are accredited by the American Psychological Association or the Canadian Psychological Association are recognized as meeting APPIC membership criteria. Phase II allows applicants who didn't obtain an internship in Phase I to be eligible for any remaining positions. According to appic.org, "3,327 applicants were successfully matched to internship positions in Phase I of the 2022 APPIC Match"; and, "a total of 549 positions remained unfilled."

"All of our students who earned a placement so far this year have done so at APA accredited sites," said Dr. Lisa Klewicki, Director for the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology Program. "Congratulations to our students for their achievement!"

The current list of sites are:
- National Training Consortium (Great Lakes)
- California State University (Northridge)
- Denver Health Medical Center (Family-Oriented Resilience, Growth, & Empowerment)
- Baylor University Counseling Center
- Johns Hopkins University
- Oscar Johnson VA Medical Center
- University of North Florida Counseling Center
