For his photography, Mr. Spilker has earned recognition as a "Juried Artist Member" of the Missouri Artisans Association; D.B.A. "Best Of Missouri Hands" and garnered "Honorable Mention" on two occasions in the "Monochrome Awards" International B&W Photography Contest. He considers his greatest achievement photography wise, to be the unique image he captured of the beloved Big Burr Oak, which is the largest and the oldest tree in Missouri, near McBaine, Missouri, as that image has attracted much interest wherever Martin has exhibited his photography across the United States.
Mr. Spilker was employed at MBS Textbook Exchange (Missouri Book Service) for 22 years, and he attributes his success to his drive for excellence pursuing images that convey "serenity and peace" as part of his Christian faith.
