Now More than Ever, it's "Her Time to Shine" with The Power of Girls and Jr. NBA

The Power of Girls and Jr. NBA Return for the Second Annual Free Virtual Girl Power Summit from March 24-26

We are expecting to have over 500 girls in attendance from around the world, and we look forward to making a positive, lasting impact on each and every one of them.

ATLANTA, GA, March 09, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Power of Girls and the Jr. NBA – the NBA and WNBA's global youth basketball program for boys and girls – today announced plans for the second annual "Her Time to Shine," a three-day summit focused on empowering and inspiring girls ages 11-16. The virtual summit, which will take place March 24-26, will equip young girls with a wide range of resources designed to improve self-awareness, confidence, and leadership skills through a series of panel discussions and interactive workshops. Sessions will feature guest panelists such as former WNBA player and CEO of the TY1 Gear apparel line Tamera "Ty" Young and youth activist Mari "Little Miss Flint" Copeny. Additional participating women executives, influencers, WNBA players, and advocates will be revealed at a later date. Arielle Chambers, Founder of Bleacher Report's HighlightHER and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, will be the event's keynote speaker.

"Her Time to Shine" will consist of three innovative sessions: Leading by Action, Her Time to Shine, and Her Time to Be Heard. Participants will also be encouraged to engage in a variety of breakout workshops centered on leadership, self-care, creativity, and S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Additionally, girls will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and interests during the summit's talent show, which offers cash prizes for winners. The summit will build on the pillars of Her Time To Play, which the Jr. NBA launched in 2018 to inspire the next generation of girls to play basketball in a positive and healthy way and provide them with ways to engage with one another through the sport. The Her Time To Play curriculum combines on-court training with off-court life skills lessons to help girls build confidence, face the challenges of adolescence and learn the values of the game.

"The Power of Girls is excited to host 'Her Time to Shine' with the Jr. NBA for the second year in a row!" says The Power of Girls Founder Tameka Kee. "We are expecting to have over 500 girls in attendance from around the world, and we look forward to making a positive, lasting impact on each and every one of them."
