Raymond L. Towne, Esq., Dedicated to Law, and to Occupational Safety & Health

Mr. Towne lends years of expertise to his work as an attorney and safety consultant in private practice



    FAYETTEVILLE, AR, March 10, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Raymond L. Towne, Esq., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Towne graduated from Portsmouth Abbey School, Portsmouth, RI in 1970. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Classics (Latin, Greek and Hebrew) from Pomona College in Claremont, CA in 1974, Mr. Towne tried his hand at high school teaching, seminary and clinical psychology graduate work, and selling life insurance. Eventually concluding that he was best suited for the practice of law, Mr. Towne received a J.D. (Doctor of Jurisprudence) degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1987 and became licensed to practice as a member of the State Bar of California the following year. He was admitted to practice before the federal Central District of California in 1988.

For nineteen years, Mr. Towne served as an attorney for the State of California's Department of Transportation, Labor Commissioner, and Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), finally becoming a Cal/OSHA safety inspector in the areas of general industry, construction, and mining and tunneling. After retirement and relocation to Arkansas in 2015, he also became a member of the State Bar of Arkansas in 2017. He was admitted to practice before the federal Western District of Arkansas in 2021. At present, he is also a Certified Safety Professional, and an Approved Professional Safety Source through the Arkansas Workers Compensation Commission.

In California, Mr. Towne served as a volunteer civil rights attorney for the Los Angeles Community Action Network. At present, he serves as a volunteer corporate secretary for the Northwest Arkansas Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Council and other work safety organizations. He has served as a co-author on an ergonomics work safety article, "An Imperceptible Barcode Can Reduce the Muscle Activity Required to Scan Common Consumer Packaged Goods," published in the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics in 2019.

Mr. Towne has been an Eagle Scout since 1967. He was a member of the Gregorian Schola of Los Angeles from 1996 through 2015. He and his wife currently sing with the Sacred Harp Singers of Springdale, Arkansas.
