Shenick Covington received the Vanguard Award for Major Rehabilitation of Existing Rental Housing from the National Affordable Housing Management Association.

After beginning in the field as the Director of Strategic Relations for Volunteers of America Los Angeles between 2012 and 2015, Ms. Covington became a property manager and community administrator for the organization. Since accepting this position in 2015, she has overseen more than 76 affordable low-income housing units for veteran families, ensured federal compliance and managed a staff consisting of on-site direct personnel, third party vendors and security personnel, among others.
An expert in her field, Ms. Covington holds an Assisted Multi-Family Housing Manager certification through Quadel and became a Housing Credit Certified Professional through the National Association of Home Builders. Additionally, she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from South University. Driven to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, she is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders and the National Center of Housing Management, through which she garnered a Tax Credit Specialist certification.
In light of her outstanding work, Ms. Covington received the Vanguard Award for Major Rehabilitation of Existing Rental Housing from the National Affordable Housing Management Association in 2016. Even though her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of serving as property manager, for which she received the aforementioned accolade. Within the coming years, Ms. Covington aims to expand her network and pass the baton to her successor while keeping the interests of low-income families in mind.
