Dr. Philip was proud to receive the Stinchfield Award from the Hip Society for Orthopedic Research, the JS Gravenstein Award for Visionary Understanding of the Role of Technology in Anesthesia Care and Lifetime Commitment to Patient Safety from the Society for Technology in Anesthesia (STA) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists - Society for Education in Anesthesia (ASA-SEA) Distinguished Educator award.

As a respected voice in his field, Dr. Philip previously served as an editor of several professional publications, such as the Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, the International Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing and the Anesthesia Department Clinical Practice Manual. He has also authored a book, nearly 30 book chapters, five book reviews and a number of editorials. Dr. Philip likewise has contributed to nearly 65 peer-reviewed journal articles and research investigations, numerous videotapes, more than 15 films and various webcasts and has conducted 250 visiting professorships.
