Richard Thomas Jordan Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    TAMPA, FL, April 06, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Richard Thomas Jordan with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Jordan celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A dedicated environmental consultant, Mr. Jordan serves on behalf of the International Council for Caring Communities in New York as the director of special projects. With special consultative status via the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN), the nonprofit organization serves to connect civic groups, private entities, universities, and the UN to find resolutions for both developing and established countries. Mr. Jordan was also affiliated with the UCC Whale Center in Saint Petersburg, Florida, where he served with distinction as an officer and member of the board of directors. He was also a co-founder of the Blue Community Consortium in both St. Petersburg and Anna Maria Island, Florida.

Involved with the UN as a non-governmental representative for more than 40 years, Mr. Jordan has been recognized for his longevity in his position. Over the years, he has served as a UN representative for the World Citizen's Assembly and as a representative and liaison for the Global Futures Network. He has also been involved with a multitude of significant UN meetings and conferences, such as the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and the World Summit on Social Development in Copenhagen. Furthermore, in the early 1990s, Mr. Jordan maintained involvement as a facilitator for the UN Peace Studies Unit Conference and the Oekologia Congress in Vienna, as well as the Rio + 20 Conference in Rio de Janeiro in 2012. Presently, he functions as the chief of UN operations for the Royal Academy of Science International Trust in New York.

A journalist for 40 years, Mr. Jordan founded Jordanbooks in 1972 and Jordanventures in 1977. He also spent several years as a proofreading supervisor for Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton from 1985 to 1987 and for Sidley & Austin between 1987 and 1989. Likewise, he was hired as a teacher and lead proofreader for Proofreading Dynamics Inc. in New York City in 1987. Mr. Jordan subsequently garnered experience as an evening paralegal supervisor for Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson from 1989 until 1991, and later was one of five original co-founding editors who established the Earth Negotiations Bulletin, where he served as a staff writer and editor from 1993 to 2002. Following this period, he was named as a senior international correspondent for Ask Congress Web TV in New York City, in 2005 and co-founded the Blue Community in Saint Petersburg from 2015 to 2021.

Well regarded for his scholarly output, Mr. Jordan has often lectured before various universities and other organizations on the importance of being involved with the UN. Finding great reward in mentorship, he is especially proud of his time spent teaching online leadership based on principles enshrined in the UN Charter to young Asian professionals. Among his many other civic interests, Mr. Jordan recently concluded a 35-year commitment as the president of Concerned Citizens Speak Inc. in 2019. He is also a member of the New York Episcopal Diocese task force on the Diocese of Central Tanganyika and a convener for the Saint Bartholomew's chapter of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship. Furthermore, Mr. Jordan has served as the co-founder and co-chief executive officer of the World Harmony Foundation from 2005 until March 2022. Mr. Jordan has for over 20 years served as a member of the board of directors of the American Teilhard Association.

A graduate of Iona College, Mr. Jordan earned a Bachelor of Arts in classical languages and English literature, with a minor in theology and philosophy, in 1970. He also completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Minnesota and New York University. Additionally, he holds a post-crisis hospitality management certificate from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business. He is a 2021 alumnus of the University of South Florida Muma College of Business, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and was a courtesy faculty member of the University of South Florida Patel College of Global Sustainability. Affiliated with several professional organizations, he serves as a member of the American Library Association and, among others, the Modern Language Association. Across the length of his multifaceted career, Mr. Jordan received an Award for Zeal in the Pursuit of Excellence in 1966 from the Grand Street Boys' Association in New York City, and a Spirit of the UN Award in 2018.
