    WASHINGTON, DC, April 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The WGES NOVA award is presented to those who have made outstanding contributions in clean energy or sustainable innovations in existing energy technologies based on actual case studies. This year WGES celebrates and highlights individuals and organizations who have shown exemplary leadership, innovation, and commitment to solving societal inequities through sustainable and educational solutions.

WGES is proud to announce Michael Jones-Bey, who serves as Director, Corporate Social Responsibility, Supplier Diversity | Sustainability | Investment Recovery, Consolidated Edison as a recipient of the 2022 WGES NOVA Award. He is responsible for leading the company's efforts to incorporate sustainable Supply Chain business practices while increasing contract opportunities for Minority-owned and Women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) in ways that strategically support the company's commitments to environmental stewardship and promoting economic growth within the communities it serves.

Michael is expanding opportunities for MWBEs through his pioneering collaborations with the US Department of Commerce, private investors, and U. S. Department of Energy funded research laboratories, in partnership with MWBEs who are commercializing and marketing technology that meet the emerging needs of the energy industry.

Michael has also demonstrated a commitment to ensuring that residents within communities served by the utility industry are not only provided meaningful opportunities to participate as contractors, but also as employees. Through his partnerships with state government and local non-profit stakeholder organizations he has helped to raise millions of dollars for training that is creating hundreds of jobs for low-income New Yorkers to work in the growing field of sustainable clean energy.

He is also currently levering his role as the Supply Chain lead on Con Edison's Sustainability Leadership Council and primary liaison to a 16-member Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance to implement Supply Chain initiatives that enhance safety, increase cost savings, reduce risks, increase investment recovery dollars recouped by diverting waste from landfill, and reduce Con Edison's environmental footprint.

Michael is a champion of corporate sustainability and a leading proponent for recruiting talented minority and women entrepreneurs in the energy industry. His work has been recognized nationally. He has received over 30 awards from the public and private sector. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Northeastern University.

Michael is in good company as recipient of 2022 NOVA Award. Other past WGES NOVA Award recipients include; the City of Philadelphia for its Greenworks sustainable program accepted by Mayor Nutter, the Country of Brazil presented for its Sustainable Program in Rio de Janeiro, Tishman, DOW, Johnson Controls for corporate leadership, innovative products & technologies, Drexel University for its Smart House Program accepted by the Dean and Students involved in the program, the District of Columbia for its Sustainable DC plan accepted by Mayor Vincent Gray, the University of the District of Columbia CAUSES for its Urban Food Hubs accepted by Dean Sabine O'Hara, for its concept as a model for Urban Agriculture, these are among other notable recipients, and Mr. Ron Uba, Acting Supervisor Business Development for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Authority.

For the eleventh year the WGES will serve as a world stage of education and information exchange on maintaining the health of our planet and as a platform of clean energy technologies and sustainable programs that will also benefit our economy.
