Jackson Design and Remodeling Wins Two NARI National CotY Awards: La Jolla Farmhouse and San Diego Kitchen Honored as Best of 2022

The winning designs were recognized as exceptional in a prestigious annual competition with leading remodeling firms across the country

SAN DIEGO, CA, April 19, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jackson Design and Remodeling announced today that it has won two National Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). JDR's boho-chic farmhouse in La Jolla received highest honors in the "Entire Homes $750,001-$1,000,000" category. The firm's elegant Tuscan-inspired kitchen remodel won in the "Residential Kitchens Over $150,000 category". The projects were recognized for excellence in a competition with finalists from seven regions across the country. JDR is the only San Diego company to win a national CotY award and this is the 17th consecutive year that JDR has been awarded for its work by NARI. The CotYs are considered one of the highest honors in the home design and remodeling industry.

Each year, NARI presents CotY Awards to members who have demonstrated outstanding work through their remodeling projects. The CotY Awards are the highest form of recognition by industry leaders and peers. For the 2022 awards, NARI received 410 entries from across the United States representing over $116 million in remodeling projects. NARI announced this years' National Winners at the Evening of Excellence event held during NARI's Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia. JDR's 2022 National CotY Award Winning Projects in Detail

Boho Chic Farmhouse

For this home in La Jolla within walking distance of the beach, the homeowners loved the location, but needed much more room. They wanted a modern farmhouse design with an open coastal feel. The JDR team managed every aspect of the extensive whole home remodel, doubling the square footage and adding a second level. The new exterior charms with a clean and classic farmhouse design in modern black and white. Textured surfaces, reclaimed wood trim, and bold rattan lighting at the front door echo elements of the interior design. Inside, abundant natural light and fresh ocean breezes flow through multiple windows and glass doors. Statement boho lighting and patterned walls create individual character for each space and visual continuity for the whole home. The kitchen and dining area is open to the expansive living space and to a backyard oasis where the homeowners entertain friends and family. This welcoming retreat by the beach with chic boho details embraces California coastal living, with a modern point of view.

Elegant Tuscan Kitchen

A retired couple who love to cook and entertain on a grand scale wanted a large, welcoming kitchen with traditional elements. The family room and kitchen in the existing design felt disconnected, and a substantial variation between ceiling heights in the two rooms made the kitchen feel dark and cave-like. The JDR team aimed to balance the scale of the two rooms and bring unity to the space with a Tuscan design with modern elements. An addition allowed for more space and the ceiling was raised. An arched window above the sink–along with new glass doors in the family room– strengthened the visual connection to a gorgeous backyard and pool. Substantial cherry cabinetry complements a meticulously crafted barrel ceiling. Wrought iron corbels on the cooktop hood and natural stone elements combine to give the new kitchen a feel of Old-World elegance. Softer design elements and layers of lighting bring a modern influence to the space, which now welcomes friends and family for large gatherings.

"This year's submissions were outstanding, making the job of our esteemed judges very difficult," said Tracy Wright, CAE, Senior Director of Membership and Chapter Services at NARI. "The judging panel representing industry experts, selected winners based on problem-solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation and degree of difficulty."
