An award-winning photographer, Mr. Okpor has spent more than five years developing a significant portfolio as the owner of Leonard Okpor Photography in New York. A versatile artist, he has become experienced in a variety of photographic genres, including weddings, engagements and fine art, but has a primary interest in portrait and headshot photography. Telling intimate stories through the lens of his camera, Mr. Okpor prefers shooting his subjects with natural light, using creative, colorful backdrops and outdoor scenery that result in uniquely innovative expressions.
Mr. Okpor achieved a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance at Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) in 2016. Prior to graduating from college, he served as the president of Students for Liberty and was the team leader and president of Enactus on campus as well as the President of his Department. He was also a student ambassador for the Association for Chartered Certified Accountants. Additionally, Mr. Okpor authored "The Impact of Fraud on the Performance of Commercial Banks in Nigeria" in 2015. Presently, he is a professional member of the International Strategic Management Institution.
To commemorate his accomplishments while drawing the threads of art, Mr. Okpor received a Portrait Photo Award in 2017 and a Couples' Choice Award through Wedding Wire in 2021. Likewise, he has been recognized by The Knot, Premier Bride and several other local and national wedding resources and publications. Mr. Okpor was also acknowledged with several honors prior to graduating from college, including being an outstanding and inspiring student at ACU in 2015 and also winning several sport related awards majorly in badminton and basketball at both the Inter-Command Games in Nigeria as well as the Willowridge High School in South Africa.
Adjacent to his main responsibilities in the field, Mr. Okpor is a curator for Mindsetpx and his new insight for creative works has been developed through Userspace, which is comprised of a rapidly growing community of photography. He is also affiliated with George Street Photo & Video in New York on a part-time basis. Looking toward the future, Mr. Okpor aspires to expand his portfolio by pursuing commercial photography opportunities, while also building on his current collection. He also aims to serve as a mentor to promising artists in the industry.
