The passing of Mickey Gilley is a tremendous loss not only to the music world but also the entire entertainment industry.
HOUSTON, TX, May 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The passing of Mickey Gilley is a tremendous loss not only to the music world but also the entire entertainment industry. Gilley who was most recognized as the musician whose nightclub, Gilley's, inspired the award winning film "Urban Cowboy" (John Travolta and Debra Winger). Mickey was entrenched in the film and TV world, either through acting or his music contributions. Gilley's number one love was his music, but he continued to give back to the community he lived in. He recently received the Pioneer Award presented to him by the Branson Area Chamber of Commerce, he did two shows a year where the admittance fee was dog food and he gave the food to the local shelters. He participated in local benefits, veteran shows, and promoted Branson all over the United States.
"I am so saddened to lose another dear friend of mine. Mickey was like a father to me. We worked on many business deals together and I could always count on him to support my endeavors. He is a legend to never be forgotten and I will miss him dearly", said Jimmie Wheeler, CEO of Cherokee Black Entertainment.
Cherokee Black Entertainment worked with Gilley for many years and helped Gilley distribute his successful music/talk show series, Gilley's Place. Jimmie was an investment banker/investment adviser on Wall Street and has over twenty years of experience. Mr. Wheeler helped orchestrate numerous monumental mergers, acquisitions and leveraged buyouts in the oil, gas, entertainment, banking, real estate and gaming (casino) industry from the 1980's through 2000's. While in the gaming industry, he collaborated in writing the Gaming Laws in the State of Mississippi. Later he assisted in using his area of expertise in developing the gaming (casino) industry in Mississippi Gulf Coast. He has been fortunate to collaborate with Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield and many more professional boxers in the industry. In the music industry, he worked and collaborated with artists such as: Sammy Davis Jr., Jay Z, Destiny's Child and other entertainers. In the entertainment and business arena, Mr. Wheeler has handled sponsorship's, currency exchange, investment banking in the Caribbean, South American countries and worldwide negotiations of financial affairs for many athletes, entertainers and major corporations. Jimmie "Big Wheel" Wheeler is a proud graduate from the University of Houston where he obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and a Master in Business Administration in Finance.
