Gastroenterologist Murray Orbuch named a 2022 Castle Connolly Top Doctor

Murray Orbuch, MD, has been recognized as a 2022 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, the eighth year in a row he has received the Top Doctor honor.

NEW YORK, NY, May 13, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Murray Orbuch, MD, has been recognized as a 2022 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, the eighth year in a row he has received the Top Doctor honor.

Dr. Orbuch's New York City practice, SoHo Gastroenterology, has locations in both SoHo and the Financial District. He founded the practice in 1998.

Dr. Orbuch takes a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating patients with all types of gastrointestinal (GI) issues, including celiac disease, Barrett's esophagus, biliary (liver) disease, pancreatic insufficiency, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, gallstones, constipation, and swallowing issues due to disorders of motility disorders.

He also performs a range of GI endoscopic procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies and upper endoscopies; assesses patients' risk of developing colon cancer; and works with patients to help lower that risk.

Dr. Orbuch's practice extends beyond basic gastroenterology where he has special expertise in caring for patients with GI motility disorders; inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); endometriosis-related GI conditions; and obscure gastrointestinal bleeding of the small intestine.

"I spend the time and take a holistic approach to my patients' symptoms and unique circumstances to investigate the full range of potential diagnoses," he says. "That's essential to making accurate diagnoses as quickly as possible" — which is vital, given the GI system's importance.

"Because the digestive tract, liver, pancreas and gall bladder enable the rest of the body's function, GI health is key to overall health and well-being," explains Dr. Orbuch. "When things go awry with the digestive tract, it may hint at other seemingly unrelated underlying conditions."

Dr. Orbuch has served since 2002 as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Top Doctors are nominated by peer physicians and selected by the physician-led Castle Connolly research team.

"It is a great honor to be recognized by my fellow physicians for the eighth consecutive year as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor," Dr. Orbuch says. "Castle Connolly has always been the leading authoritative resource for patients to identify the best medical care in the United States."

Dr. Orbuch earned his medical degree at the State University of New York-Downstate College of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine residency at New York University Medical Center and gastroenterology/hepatology fellowships at both Georgetown University Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health.

He speaks English, Hebrew, and Romanian.
