Luxivair SBD Purchases Specialized Electric Ground Support Equipment

Significant Investments Continue to Reduce FBO's Carbon Footprint

By continually investing in state-of-the-art technologies, we seek to exceed best practices, stay ahead of California's standards and reduce our carbon footprint. Mark Gibbs, Director of Aviation, SBD

SAN BERNARDINO, CA, June 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Luxivair SBD at San Bernardino International Airport will purchase specialized electric-powered Ground Support Equipment (GSE), an investment that will continue to reduce the FBO's carbon footprint. The self-propelled passenger stair and lavatory servicing vehicle are necessary to keep pace with the growing demand for services and will add to the array of low- and zero-emission equipment currently supporting Luxivair's customers.

The new equipment is compliant with both the Air Quality Management District's stringent emissions requirements and the Airport's Green Energy Element plan. "By continually investing in state-of-the-art technologies, both Luxivair and the Airport seek to exceed best practices in the industry, stay a step ahead of California's standards, and reduce our carbon footprint," says Mark Gibbs, Director of Aviation for San Bernardino International Airport.

Luxivair has purchased the ABS-580-E self-propelled passenger stair and the TLD LSP-900-V-E Lavatory and Water truck, both of which are fully powered by electricity. The adjustable stairway provides passengers with safe and comfortable access to aircraft and features an open driving station for greater visibility during operations. The lavatory servicing vehicle operates efficiently, silently, and without emitting any exhaust.

"As the premier FBO in Southern California, Luxivair takes its responsibility to the environment, to our customers, and to the community very seriously," continues Gibbs. "The FBO is driven to do its part in helping to reduce emissions, all while delivering the five-star experience its customers expect."

Since its inception, Luxivair has been committed to making its facilities and operations as green as possible. Solar panels help power operations, and the airfield and hangar bays are lit by energy-efficient LEDs. Luxivair SBD's private rental fleet includes hydrogen powered zero-emission Toyota Mirai sedans, while behind the scenes, alternative-fueled ground support equipment includes electric aircraft tugs, new electric stair truck, propane-powered forklift, and fuel trucks equipped with the latest available clean technology.
