Managed by Mr. Herman and originally with his wife Diane expanded the business from a small and intimate gallery into an award-winning establishment. Today, his business employs several well-educated art consultants and management team members who serve to assist both clients and artists. The building also features 20,000 square feet of art display, which is occupied by diverse styles of artwork, including paintings, sculptures, fine art jewelry and glass art.
When Mr. Herman first opened his gallery, he sought to operate it in a way that was unlike other galleries. Basing his business on providing total transparency between himself and the artists, his unique philosophy led Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art to become one of the most successful and reputable of its kind. Noting that it was never about the money, Mr. Herman was more interested in leading with integrity, and, as a result, revenue followed.
Fortunate to be able to retire from the corporate world at the age of 35, Mr. Herman notably spent five years as the executive vice president and general manager of University Stereo where he was instrumental in developing the business from just under $3 million to $40 million in annual sales between 1975 and 1985. He subsequently founded a $10 million advertising agency called JAM Advertising Ink in Los Angeles in 1977 that specialized in marketing high net worth companies throughout the world. Additionally, Mr. Herman served as the vice president of marketing for Inference Corporation, an organization that specializes in the development of artificial intelligence computer software, from 1983 to 1984. Upon retiring, he then spent the next six years sailing around the world as a sea captain with World Travelers before settling in Arizona.
Presently, Mr. Herman is working with a group of individuals to create an artificial intelligence learning center for religious studies. The center will be located in Arizona but will have a global reach.
A native of New York City, Mr. Herman completed coursework at San Francisco State University. However, his studies were suspended when he was called to active duty. Serving his country in the Vietnam War, Mr. Herman had the opportunity to work with the photo intelligence branch of the U.S. Air Force as a combat photographer.
Accumulating multiple awards over the past 25 years, Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art was voted Best Gallery in Sedona and Best Gallery in Arizona and was also recognized among the Top 25 Galleries and Museums in the U.S. During Mr. Herman's years in consumer electronics, he was recognized as the National Retailer of the Year and was named to the Top 100 Executives list by the Los Angeles Times.
