Amber Dillenkoffer Wins Morris Bart Community Service Scholarship

    NEW ORLEANS, LA, July 09, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Amber Dillenkoffer has won the Morris Bart Community Service Scholarship, worth $2,500, to dedicate to her studies at Southeastern Louisiana University. Applicants like Dillenkoffer were required to submit essays analyzing the meaning of "service" to be considered for this prestigious award.

In an interview with Morris Bart staff, Dillenkoffer says that the topic of service "spoke very much to [her]." She cites numerous examples of her own outreach within her community, noting her dedication to her church and its many community-oriented programs. She also elaborates on the influence her aunt, founder of Feed NOLA in New Orleans, had on her outreach goals.

Dillenkoffer goes on to discuss how engaging with both local and international service movements transformed her perspective on her future. As a rising freshman at Southeastern University Louisiana, Dillenkoffer wants to integrate her dedication to in-need communities into her eventual career.

Dillenkoffer's ambitions are not the only things driving her to succeed. She also intends to continue engaging with her favorite forms of community services. Today these include her philanthropic efforts through SLU's Greek organizations and Campus Outreach, a campus-based Christian organization.

Dillenkoffer's greatest hometown achievement, however, is her annual toy drive. Known now as "Amber's Reason for the Season," the drive has run for eight years. Dillenkoffer's church helps sponsor her efforts, and to great success. In 2021, Dillenkoffer collected nearly 1,400 toys for local children in need. She has since partnered with Toys for Tots to expand her outreach.

Morris Bart is proud to help Dillenkoffer continue pursuing her Social Work major at Southeastern Louisiana University. Dillenkoffer reports that she intends to pursue her Master's in Social Work after she graduates. When she's not focused on her studies, she dedicates herself to her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi Kappa Tau, and her church.
