A skilled medical laboratory scientist, Ms. Muhammad dedicates her career to gaining further expertise while improving laboratory services. To prepare for her profession, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Morgan State University in 2012. She began her career as a clinical laboratory technician at Good Samaritan Hospital in 2012. In 2013, she started a Medical Laboratory Science program at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Since then she was promoted to Senior Medical Technologist in 2019. As an expert in microbiology, Ms. Muhammad is in charge of the competency aspect in her laboratory, ensuring the staff are properly trained and assessing the various functions for quality control.
Ms. Muhammad was inducted into the MBRS-RISE Program (2009) in which she was able to embark on a numerous research opportunities. She was honored with an award for earthquake research at the Southern California Earthquake Center at SCEC Annual Conference. Also she has been honored at the Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) for her work in biomedical research at Morgan State University. Ms. Muhammad was notably mentored by Dr. Christine Holman while in the MBRS-RISE program. She is passionate about expanding her knowledge in the medical field and her engagement in a variety of scientific research has made her skillsets impeccable.
Ms. Muhammad was drawn to her profession out of curiosity. She always had a passion for the medical field and a passion for helping people. However, she gained firsthand experience about medical laboratory scientists after working in a hospital laboratory upon graduating college and was inspired to become one herself. Furthermore, Ms. Muhammad is studying in her discipline in order to gain her Specialty in Microbiology (SM). She also likes to study the mystical sciences in her spare time.
