During the early stages of her career, Ms. Stephens worked for Procter & Gamble (P&G) as a systems engineer. In the context of her role, she coached technicians on the manufacturing floor. After five years with P&G, she began a lengthy career with Kimberly-Clark, where she worked as a research and development scientist, market manager, senior market manager, capability development manager, inside sales team leader and regional sales manager between 2000 and 2018. She maintained responsibility for hiring and staffing matters, as well as a $65 million territory and eight end-user specialists.
Between 2018 and 2020, Ms. Stephens served as director of business development with New Heights Academic & Leadership Consulting. Supported by her extensive experience, she presently excels as head of learning and development for Strategic Diversity Partners, where she focuses on lead generation and corporate relationship building, course facilitator for The Training Edge, LLC, and as a diversity consultant for Loeb Leadership, through which she creates and facilitates self-discovery workshops and seminars for companies, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. Similarly, Ms. Stephens excels as chief consultant for New Heights Academic & Leadership Consulting, where she oversees diversity initiatives in various countries and leads what she calls "courageous conversation" events in which sensitive issues can be discussed in a safe manner.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Stephens received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Spelman College, both earned in 1996. To further her expertise in the field, she attained a Master of Business Administration from Webster University in 2010 and became a board-certified coach through the Center for Credentialing & Education and the Institute for Life Coach Training, both obtained in 2018. Furthermore, she received a diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace certificate through the University of South Florida in 2021.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Stephens aligns herself with the Society for Human Resource Management and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Outside of her main career path, she dedicates herself to One to One – Women Coaching Women and her local homeowners association as a member of the board of directors. In a career filled with highlights, she is most proud of hosting a forum on maternal mortality, bringing awareness to the difference in mortality rates between Black women and other women, helping a company in the United Kingdom promote and develop a Black, Asian and minority ethnic program that empowers minority populations, and facilitating workshops on diversity, equity and inclusion across three continents.
