Tobe L. Gillogly, MS, PTA, CHW Celebrated for Work in Interdisciplinary Healthcare Education

Ms. Gillogly excels as an instructor, department chair, and health care practitioner at Ohio University



She is a contributing author on an introduction to pathology textbook for physical therapy assistants.

    ALBANY, OH, July 27, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tobe L. Gillogly, MS, PTA, CHW has been included in Marquis Who's Who. A passionate advocate for excellent health care education, Ms. Gillogly directs the Interdisciplinary Health Studies department at Ohio University, a public research university and the oldest university in Ohio. She began her Ohio University career in 2003 as a physical therapist assistant for Ohio University Therapy Associates in pediatrics, a position she still holds today. In 2004, she also began serving in the classroom as an Assistant Professor in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Hocking College, a position she held for a decade. In 2014, Ms. Gillogly acquired the role of Assistant Clinical Professor at Ohio University. Her position expanded in 2017 as she took on the responsibility of coordinating the Bachelor of Science of Integrated Healthcare Studies for the department, and again in 2018 when she accepted the position of department chair.

In her current capacity as Interdisciplinary Health Studies department chair and Assistant Clinical Professor, Ms. Gillogly represents the department at the university level and college through committee service, oversees department administration for five degree programs and six certificates, collaborates with multiple colleges throughout the university, advises over two hundred students and teaches nine courses in interdisciplinary health studies and is adjunct faculty for physical therapy. Her career highlight has been witnessing the strength and diversity of the interdisciplinary health studies faculty, a well-credentialed group of experts. Ms. Gillogly also excels as a researcher, having written scholarly papers, in addition to presenting research findings at conferences within her profession. She is a contributing author on an introduction to pathology textbook for physical therapy assistants.

Ms. Gillogly's performance in the field was born of her academic journey, which began with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, cum laude, in dance and theatre from Ohio University in 1993. After performing professionally and teaching dance to children it seemed a natural transition into physical therapy, Ms. Gillogly obtained an Associate of Applied Science, magna cum laude, in physical therapy assistant from Hocking College in 2003. She subsequently earned a Master of Science in Child and Family Studies from Ohio University in 2011, a degree that she obtained summa cum laude, the highest possible honor.

Ms. Gillogly is certified as a Community Health Worker by the Ohio Board of Nursing, as a credentialed clinical instructor by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), as an associate licensed physical therapy assistant by the Ohio Department of Education, and as a pediatric physical therapist assistant by the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board. She holds a group exercise instructor certification from the Athletics and Fitness Association of America, she is an active member of the APTA, and is a Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aider.

Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Gillogly has garnered numerous awards, including recognition of advanced proficiency for her role as a physical therapist assistant in pediatrics and in education from the APTA. Additionally, the APTA Pediatric Section recognized her with an Outstanding Pediatric Physical Therapist Assistant Clinician of the Year Award in 2013. In recognition for her work as an instructor, the Ohio University College of Health Sciences and Professions awarded Ms. Gillogly an Excellence in Online Teaching Award in 2016.
