Born and educated in England, Dr. Nye received a PhD in immunology from the University of London and quickly advanced within the field of medical marketing. She served as the worldwide marketing manager for Corning Medical and vice president of marketing for Ambis Systems before founding her own company, Nye Marketing, in 1989. After seven years of successfully leading her business, Dr. Nye was recruited by Torre Lazur McCann/The Biogenesis Group to launch Rituxan®, the first targeted antibody therapy in cancer. She was then promoted to executive vice president and managing director. After serving as managing director for Helix Medical Communications from 2003 to 2007, Dr. Nye established Medical Minds alongside a team of esteemed colleagues.
Among her many career achievements, Dr. Nye is particularly proud of her involvement in educational initiatives that advance the standards of patient care such as targeted therapies in cancer, biologic therapies in psoriasis, and continuous glucose monitoring in diabetes, all of which are now standard of care Additionally, she takes pride in her involvement in developing advocacy programs such as the Cancer Survival Toolbox®, with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, a self-advocacy program that has been accessed by more than a million cancer survivors. And The Roadmap for the Future of Colorectal Cancer Screening in the US with the American Gastroenterological Association, designed to increase the rate of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and reduce mortality due to CRC.
As a commitment to her field, Dr. Nye is involved with several industry-related organizations. She is active with the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association, where she has held leadership and mentorship roles, and with the National Association for Continence. She also sits on the board of directors of the Worldwide Fistula Fund, dedicated to restoring the health and dignity of the world's most vulnerable women by preventing and treating childbirth injuries.
Dr. Nye was originally drawn to her work in health care education and marketing because of the profound impact it would enable her to have on people's lives, an aspect of her work that continues to inspire her daily. She attributes her ongoing career success to a passion for health care, a solid educational background, and a constant curiosity and willingness to learn.
