An expert in elementary education, Ms. Vargas has been a dedicated professor for more than 15 years. Having come from a family of educators, she was inspired to pursue a career in education by her mother who taught her the joy of helping others. Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies from California State University, Long Beach, in 2000 and a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from the same institution in 2005. Well qualified in her profession, she is also a credentialed K–8 teacher. Following her educational accomplishments, she began her career as a professor for Concorde Career Colleges, Inc. and then for West Coast University.
Ms. Vargas continued her career as a professor at Concorde Career College until starting her present role with Santiago Canyon College in 2013. In this capacity, she teaches the history of education and the fundamentals of teaching. She continues to teach communication courses at Glendale Career College as well. She seeks to provide student-centered education and is passionate about helping her students achieve their goals effectively. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, she is a member of the Pathways to Teaching Program at Santiago Canyon College.
A naturally driven individual, Ms. Vargas has spent her career putting her students first. Looking toward the future, she plans to write grants to support her work and become a tenured professor at her college. She also intends to become more active at the state and national level with various professional organizations to help improve the curricula for students in her state and nationwide.
