She has also been honored with first, second and third place awards in numerous art competitions. Owing to her success in her field, Ms. Darnell was appointed a lifetime board member of a gallery. She also has been a board member of four other organizations. She became a published book illustrator in July of 2022. As her career develops, she hopes to continue working as an illustrator and expand that specialty to children's books.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Ms. Darnell and her husband are involved in missionary work in West Africa, building churches, furnishing Bibles, providing musical instruments, and helping people obtain college degrees. She is a chaplin with a heart for the sick, dying, and disaster relief. In both her professional and personal life, Ms. Darnell draws upon her motto; "Seek His will in all that you do."
