Try Everything 2022, Provides Foothold for Mutual Growth for Large Corporations, Mid-sized Companies, and Startups- 'Try Everything 2022' open for 3 days between 9.21(Wed)~23(Fri)

Seoul Open Innovation vision declared for the coexistence of large corporations, mid-sized companies, and startups, and the establishment of a civilian driven startup ecosystem



    SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Global Startup Festival, 'Try Everything 2022', will open for 3 days, between the upcoming September 21st(Wed) to 23rd(Fri), at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).

'Try Everything' is a global startup festival where promising startups, large conglomerates, mid-sized companies, investors, accelerators, and other components of the startup ecosystem come together. The city of Seoul has been opening 'Try Everything' every year since 2020, to invigorate the startup ecosystem.

This year, as Seoul has made the global top 10 cities with strong startup ecosystem for the first time, various players from the startup ecosystem, including global corporations, investment institutions, unicorn companies, and media outlets will participate to further promote the revitalization of the Seoul startup ecosystem.

In a startup ecosystem report covering 280 cities from 100 countries from all over the world, Startup Genome, a global startup research and evaluation firm, has raised Seoul by 6 ranks, from 16th in '21, to 10th this year, giving the city its highest rank yet.

This year's 'Try Everything 2022' will focus on open innovation between large corporations, mid-sized companies, and startups, which are accelerating to overcome the COVID pandemic, and to secure future growth engines in the 4th industrial revolution.

The founder of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, who created a new digital economy ecosystem under the theme of achieving ways for companies, cities, and countries to cooperate by sharing information and technology with each other, and professor Tyler Cowen of George Mason University, who is a world-renowned scholar in the field of economics and has been selected as 'America's hottest economist' by Bloomberg Businessweek, have been confirmed as keynote speakers for 'Try Everything 2022', which will be opening on 9.21(Wed). They will be presenting global insights for the invigoration of the Seoul startup ecosystem.

In addition, the 'Seoul Open Innovation Vision Declaration Ceremony' will be held, where Seoul will become the platform to create a link so that the city of Seoul, around 50 companies, such as domestic and foreign corporations, mid-sized companies, and startups including Benz Korea, Continental, SKT, Kyowon, and startup support associations, can come together to provide a foothold for growth for startups.

'Try Everything 2022' will be made up of over 40 programs, including a competition, lectures, and seminars for the expansion of domestic startups to expand globally, and to invigorate the startup ecosystem of Seoul. Various global institutions and domestic and foreign startup ecosystem experts, such as South Summit, eXtreme Tech Challenge, Startup Genome, and the US Embassy in Korea, will be present as well.

Spanish startup exhibition, South Summit, XTC-eXtreme Tech Challenge, the world's largest startup competition for social innovation, the US Embassy in Seoul, who will be there to help startups expand into the US, and global startup ecosystem evaluation institution, Startup Genome are also slated to participate to actively exchange with domestic and foreign startups.

In addition to the invited speakers from overseas such as Philip Rosedale, the founder of Linden Lab which created Second Life, called the original metaverse, Maya Rodgers of the Tetris Company, which owns the world-famous puzzle game, Tetris, and Maria Benjumea, founder of Spain Startup, key speakers from Korea including Jongyoon Kim, the CEO of Yanolja, lodging platform and unicorn company, Saejoo Jeong, who is well known in the US as a successful Korean entrepreneur as the CEO of Noom, Seok-yong Lee, the executive director of Goldman Sachs, and Siwon Choi of Super Junior, who is active as a startup investor, will be participating as members of the startup ecosystem.

In addition to these programs, more than 30 'Try Everything Regional Cooperation Programs' will be open all over Seoul from July to September, where the city of Seoul and startup support institutions will participate.

'National Startup Audition', which is held to discover and foster startups with superb technology, and Try Everything Awards, the awards ceremony of 'Korea Challenge', will be held on 9.23(Fri). The final companies selected as the top 10 will be given the Seoul Mayor Award and startup support funds.

'Try Everything 2022' plans to discover promising startups with innovative technology through the 'National Startup Audition', where anyone from aspiring entrepreneurs to companies less than 3 years from founding can participate, and 'Korea Challenge', which targets startups with superb technology, over 3 years but under 7 years from founding.

'Try Everything 2022' pre-registration will begin on August 23rd(Wed), on their homepage (www.tryeverything.or.kr).

Despite the dire conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic between '20~'21, 1,434 promising startups, 549 global startup ecosystem experts, and 150 investment companies from 21 countries all over the world participated. This year, for the first time in 3 years since the pandemic, it will be held offline.

The city of Seoul will take measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in order to host the event safely, and will operate flexibly between online and offline, in accordance with the COVID-19 social distancing phase.

Boyeon Hwang, the head of the Seoul Economic Policy Office, has said, "We will build a Seoul-style startup growth ladder and create a civilian-led startup ecosystem [through Try Everything], to lead the synergistic growth of large corporations, mid-sized companies, and startups."
