A prominent leader in his community, Mr. Obar served for more than 20 years as a city councilman for Graceville before being elected to serve as mayor. Further contributing to his community, he has participated in numerous civic organizations, including the Kiwanis Club, the American Legion and the Lions Club International. Mr. Obar has also served on the Jackson County Economic Development Board and on the board of directors of the Chipola Regional Workforce Development Board Inc., and Jackson County Tourist Development Council.
Mr. Obar graduated from Big Ben Community College and served in the U.S. Army Infantry as a recruiter from 1976 to 1996. He also received licensure as an insurance agent in the states of Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. To further support his professional endeavors, Mr. Obar is a member of the Professional Insurance Associates.
