He serves as the first vice president of investment sales for Marcus and Millichap

With more than two decades of experience in the commercial real estate industry, Mr. Esterson has found success as a leader in investment sales for manufactured home communities and RV parks. In this capacity, he serves as the first vice president of investment sales for Marcus and Millichap, a public real estate investment brokerage firm. Since 2019, he has focused his efforts on building a world-class brokerage team that exclusively works with property owners providing them with sale strategies while also bringing potential buyers to properties.
Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Esterson was the founder and owner of the Smokey Bowl Family Farm from 2003 to present day. The company was one of North Carolina's largest traditionally grown shiitake mushroom farms. Additionally, he is the manager for the Esterson MHC Team of Marcus and Millichap and the owner of Mobile Home Park Expert, a manufactured housing community advisory business.
Prior to his current roles, Mr. Esterson served as a licensed real estate agent with Rent Free Realty from 2001 to 2003. While working there, he became the owner of his first company, Esterson Management Solutions Inc., in 2002, where he remained until 2005. He concurrently worked as a commercial real estate agent with American Commercial Properties from 2003 to 2007. He subsequently served as owner, managing member and property manager for Mountain Meadow Estates, a manufactured home community from 2005 until 2015. He joined the Marcus and Millichap in 2013 and then worked as a senior director for Lee and Associates Commercial Real Estate Services between 2016 and 2018.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Esterson earned a bachelor's degree in ski business and resort management from Sierra Nevada College in 1999. He also completed coursework towards an unaccredited Doctorate degree in mycology at the Florida Mushroom Research College. He attained his license as a real estate broker in 2001. As part of his commitment to the real estate industry, he authored "The Mobile Home Park Manifesto," which was published in 2019. To commemorate his accomplishments in real estate, he was honored with a National Achievement Award in 2020, 2021, 2022 and was admitted to the Chairman's Circle of Excellence in 2021.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Esterson intends to eventually retire and spend more time with his family traveling and collecting art. Until then, he plans to continue developing his business and helping people expand their own properties and companies. As a naturally hard-working person, his main goal is to serve as a positive role model for his children.
