Dr. Schwartz commenced his career as a student at the University of Wisconsin, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1952 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1955. Twelve years later, he was promoted to associate clinical professor and taught in the role until his retirement from the industry in 1994. In addition, he was also a staff member at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital from 1971 to 1994 during this time.

Alongside his primary responsibilities, Dr. Schwartz has also lent his expertise to numerous committees and boards. Involved with the James E. Fitzgerald OB-GYN Society, he sat also on the Medical Examining Board of Wisconsin from 1991 to 1999 and the Professional Review Committees of the West Allis Physicians Association and Samaritan Health Plan from 1984 to 1994. A volunteer at his local church in his spare time, Dr. Schwartz has contributed myriad articles to professional journals.

Notably, Dr. Schwartz is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons, as well as a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
