The Second Chance Foundation Celebrates Another Year of Giving Students a Second Chance at Education

The scholarship is now open to any current student who is a legal United States resident and is enrolled in a vocational program or post-secondary institution for the 2023 Spring semester.

ORLANDO, FL, November 11, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Second Chance Foundation will celebrate scholarship recipients during its annual Foundation Scholarship Dinner at The University Club in Orlando. The winners will each receive $1000 in support of their post-secondary education.

Founded by criminal defense attorney Bill Umansky in 2011, the Second Chance of Florida Foundation raises money for college tuition and book scholarships for children who have overcome personal and economic hardships to achieve academic excellence. Flagship programs provided scholarships to students with a parent in prison. Now, the Second Chance Scholarship is available to recognize any American student who has overcome hardship.

The initiative behind the program comes from Umansky's belief that his role as an attorney is not just about getting settlements but creating positive changes in his clients' lives and society as a whole.

"Students who overcame hardship and received a second chance should be recognized and rewarded," Bill Umansky says. "Most people don't get recognition for overcoming obstacles and utilizing the experience and lessons they learned to better themselves."

Through the Second Chance Foundation, The Umansky Law Firm Criminal Defense & Injury Attorneys partners with other firms and organizations to extend its support beyond their clients to students across the nation. Recent winners, including Orange County student Alec Harper, are using their scholarships toward books and tuition to pursue their dreams. For Alec, that dream is a future career in law.

The Second Chance Foundation Scholarship is now open to any current student who is a legal United States resident and is enrolled in a vocational program or post-secondary institution for the 2023 Spring semester. The application requires an essay on hardship and second chances as well as a resume and transcript. Candidates must email their full application to [email protected] by December 31st, 2022.
