Since 2014, Dr. Schevchuck has thrived as initially an assistant professor, and now as an associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. He specializes in helping medical residents and fellows of the aforementioned institution's Internal Medicine and Cardiology programs improve their knowledge of various cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Schevchuck also frequently harnesses his expertise in echocardiography to teach residents and fellows how to accurately interpret ultrasound images of the heart.
Dr. Schevchuck has also excelled as a medical director and the co-chairperson of the University of New Mexico Center for Telehealth. Alongside his primary professional responsibilities, he regularly contributes to Project ACCESS, which provides medical specialty teleconsultations to multiple rural hospitals in New Mexico that care for underserved patient populations. Dr. Schevchuck has also shared his expertise with primary care providers in numerous underserved communities in a volunteer capacity.
In addition to the guidance of his mentors, Dr. Schevchuck attributes a great deal of his success to the support of his loving wife. He is extremely proud to have played a central role in the management and expansion of the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center's Adult Congenital Heart Disease program. In the coming years, Dr. Schevchuck intends to elevate his leadership skills by obtaining a Master of Business Administration.
