The National Portrait Gallery has commissioned Artist Hugo Crosthwaite to create the portrait of Anthony S Fauci

The "Portrait of a Nation: 2022 Honorees" Exhibition added seven more portraits this year. The portraits of Anthony S Fauci, Serena Williams and Clive Davis are included in the new collection.

The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. opened on November the 10th "Portrait of a Nation: 2022 Honorees" Exhibition. The exhibit that holds portraits that honors remarkable individuals will be open until October, 2023.

This year the exhibition added seven more portraits and among them the stop-motion animation portrait of Anthony S Fauci by artist Hugo Crosthwaite. The innovative piece offers an atypical approach to the portrait genre. His groundbreaking stop-motion animated piece of Dr. Fauci, edited by Theresa Magario and with music by composer Marilu Salinas aka Malu, presents a powerful and innovative visual narrative of Dr. Anthony Fauci, whose medical contributions and dedication to service public for five decades, have borne great witness to national and international efforts against viral diseases, epidemics and pandemics in the world. The artwork compiles a stop-motion animation that suits nineteen drawings from which only seven will be in view at the exhibition.

In addition to Hugo Crosthwaite's portrait of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the exhibit includes a new oil painting by Kadir Nelson of renowned culinary entrepreneur and humanitarian José Andrés, a rare commission by British artist David Hockney of music executive Clive Davis, and a new work by artist Kenturah Davis by filmmaker Ava DuVernay; as well as, a pair of portraits of tennis champions and businesswomen Serena Williams and Venus Williams, made by New York artists Toyin Ojih Odutola and Robert Pruitt. Also featured is a portrait of Marian Wright Edelman, an activist and advocate for children's civil rights. made by Colombian photographer Ruven Afanador.

The exhibition features a comprehensive representation of the possibilities of the portrait genre.
