LYNCHBURG, VA, November 18, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Morse H. Tan has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

As the dean of Liberty University School of Law, Ambassador Tan has distinguished himself as the second Korean American law school dean in the history of the United States. In this capacity, he is responsible for the operation of the law school, including hiring associate deans and professors, representing the institution in university-wide meetings, media relations and public engagement. To his historic role, he brings a wealth of expertise in international criminal law, international human rights, bioethics, constitutional law, and philosophy of law.

Prior to serving at Liberty University School of Law, Ambassador Tan was U.S. Ambassador at Large for Global Criminal Justice from 2019 to 2021, making him the first Asian American Ambassador at Large in the United States. Previously, he served as a visiting scholar at both the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and the University of Texas at Austin Law School, and in various professorial roles at the Northern Illinois University College of Law, the Florida Coastal School of Law and the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Notably, he earned distinction as a founding faculty member at the Handong International Law School, the first American Juris Doctor program in Asia.

Ambassador Tan has garnered numerous accolades throughout his illustrious career, including the "Korean American of the Year Award" from the Korean American Society of Chicago, recognition as an "Emerging Leader" from the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, and recognition as a finalist for the U.S. Supreme Court Fellowship. He attributes much of his success to his faith and perseverance. In addition, Ambassador Tan recognizes the importance of his mentors, the pre-law director at his college and his father, the latter two of whom encouraged him to attend law school.

During the course of his own educational journey, Ambassador Tan earned a Bachelor of Arts in theological studies with a minor in Spanish from Wheaton College and a Master of Arts in interdisciplinary studies from Wheaton Graduate School. He subsequently attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Northwestern University School of Law, where he was placed on the Dean's List.

As the foremost legal scholar on North Korea, Ambassador Tan is frequently invited to share his expertise to large audiences through personal appearances, publications, and interviews. In February 2022 he was a main stage speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the largest gathering of conservative individuals in the world. That same month, Ambassador Tan supplied the Tiffany Lecture at Wheaton College. He has also spoken at a Cornell Law School Symposium, the Naval War College, and the National Press Club. Throughout the past several years, Ambassador Tan and he has been interviewed by Voice of America, the largest broadcaster in the world, the Associated Press, Reuters, United Press International, and the National Law Journal.
