Nuvilab Showcases 'AI Food Scanner' which Analyzes Food Quantity, Calories, and Nutrients at Pangyo Monthly Online Meet Up

    LOS ANGELES, CA, December 06, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gyeonggido conducted an 'Online Meet Up' with Clement Jean, a reporter from the European media outlet, STARTUPWORLD, through a virtual meeting on the 25th of October, in order to share the value and state of companies in Pangyo Techno Valley with the world.

Taking part in the virtual meetings, was Nuvilab (CEO Daehoon Kim), a food tech startup established in 2018 with AI food scanning technology. Nuvilab has previously been awarded in the healthcare and sustainability categories of the CES 2021 Innovation Awards and has recently received 10 billion KRW in the series A round of investments.

As food waste is the cause of 9% of global carbon emissions, there are various regulations on reducing food waste that are pressuring companies, adding to their difficulties. To solve thls issue, Nuvilab developed the 'AI Food Scanner'.

The 'AI Food Scanner' is able to automatically analyze the amount of food provided to, amount of food eaten by, and the amount of food leftover by the user in one second. Scanning the quantity of food with non-contact, real-time, AI food scanning technology, company operators are able to run their companies more efficiently, and are able to calculate calories consumed, as well as nutrients, to help improve the eating habits of the consumers.

In addition, they provide services such as, cafeteria ESG indicator management, drinking water prediction, optimization of taking and making orders, and management of eating habits for the figure as well.

Nuvilab's solution is targeted to B2B and B2G that seek to reduce food waste and lower restaurant operation costs and is expanding their range to cover B2C as well with the release of the mobile AI Food Diary.

Kelly Kim, the marketing leader of Nuvilab, said that, "Our company plans on not only developing solutions to reduce food waste, but also technology for an integrated system that can manage and control the carbon produced in the process of food production, distribution, and consumption." He went on to explain that, "We are in the process of developing a B2C targeted mobile app that can analyze the nutrients of consumed food by simply taking photos of the food before and after eating. We are certain that it will play a big role by combining with various fields of healthcare."

He then went on to say that, "We want to collaborate with various companies that can work with our company's eating habit analysis service," and revealed that, "We are also open to global companies with an interest in ESG and food service companies around the world who want efficient restaurant operation."

The 'Online Meet Up' is one of the promotion projects of Pangyo Techno Valley and is an event where opinions of key issues of Pangyo Techno Valley companies are shared with the startup clusters around the world online. The meeting in October in particular, was one where the companies of Pangyo were introduced, and it became a place where new technologies of numerous startups could be introduced.
