Along with other industry scholars, Dr. Garfield has also contributed to a wide variety of publications, including "Characteristics of calcium transport and binding by rat myometrium plasma membrane subfractions," "Gestational changes in L-arginine-induced relaxation of pregnant rat and human myometrial smooth muscle," and more than 350 other scientific papers regarding uterine contractility and function, and more.
In conjunction with his work, Dr. Garfield has dedicated himself to others through March of Dimes as a member of the basic research advisory committee. Driven to remain abreast of industry changes, he aligns himself with the Society of Reproductive Investigation, the Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Society for the Study of Reproduction. An expert in his field, he holds a Bachelor of Science in zoology and a Master of Science in physiology from the University of Wyoming, and a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Alberta. Subsequently, Dr. Garfield completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cell physiology at the University of Pennsylvania.
