STEUBENVILLE, OH, December 24, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Edward Picardi is preparing for an upcoming mission trip to Africa with the World Medical Mission Samaritan's Purse. It's another trip back to the continent, serving as a missionary surgeon helping those in need as much as possible. Along the way, he'll also help spread the organization's Christian beliefs and values.
Taking off to go to a different country is a big step away from Dr. Picardi's time as a surgeon. He's worked in a few different states, including South Dakota and Iowa, and currently calls Steubenville, Ohio home. It helps motivate him, giving him a greater overall purpose when helping those in need.
A previous trip to Africa has set expectations high for Dr. Picardi. He has had the chance to go to Liberia and Togo, amongst other countries on the continent. During that trip, he worked with other doctors and surgeons who volunteered with World Medical Mission Samaritan's Purse. He volunteered because of his strong Christian faith.
Some first-time missionary workers will see firsthand how much is needed in these communities to keep people healthy. Dr. Edward Picardi has always seen himself as part of the bigger solution when working with his skills as a surgeon.
The trip requires Dr. Edward Picardi to take some time off from his normal practice in Ohio. He strategically picks times during the year to step away from these opportunities, giving patients as much of a heads-up as possible.
For Dr. Edward Picardi, this is another opportunity to share his knowledge and expertise in a setting that encourages it. Getting a chance to bond with other medical professionals can be extremely beneficial as well. Having similar values and the same drive to pass the Christian faith along can create lifelong friends. It forces everyone to interact and create a bond when the journey is halfway across the world.
Dr. Edward Picardi is a licensed general surgeon who currently works for Trinity Health in Steubenville, Ohio. He's previously spent time practicing in South Dakota and Iowa. With his wife, Sandy, he has spent much of his free time volunteering and spreading the faith. Mission trips are a big part of his schedule when opportunities arise.
He has remained very passionate about medicine and his religion over the years. This has led to volunteer work locally as well as around the world. Making a difference medically can always lead to a life-changing experience for anyone he touches.
