Michael Linso Lawrence Conteh Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Research and Teaching

Michael L. Conteh lends years of experience to his work in academia in Africa and the United States of America.



    FORT LEE, NJ, February 13, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael Linso Conteh has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Backed by years of experience in research, teaching, and capacity building, Mr. Conteh presently excels as the project program coordinator for the Office of the Chancellor at Rutgers University, Newark. Through his work with the University, he coordinated the Crafting Democratic Futures (CDF) Rutgers Newark team's planning and strategy meetings, worked with faculty directors and community partners, and mentored and supervised undergraduate students on the CDF project, exploring how reparations could include acknowledgment, accountability, redress, and closure to repair and reconcile. Previously, Mr. Conteh served as a graduate research fellow at the Graduate School, a graduate instructor of the "Local Citizenship in a Global World" core course at the Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC) at Rutgers University Newark (RU-N), and a teaching assistant at the School of Criminal Justice, Michigan State University (MSU).

During the early stages of his career, Mr. Conteh gained valuable expertise in the field as a senior researcher with the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM), a coordinator with the University of Namibia's Gender Training and Research Program (GTRP), a founder and executive director of Conteh Consultancy and Training Services. Throughout his career, he has achieved much, including initiating the first national forum on Understanding the Contributing Factors towards Violence against Women and Children in Namibia. Likewise, Mr. Conteh led research on "Understanding the Nature and Scope of Human Trafficking in Namibia", "Women's Property and Inheritance Rights in Namibia" and Beyond Inequalities: Women in Namibia. - "Women and the Media."

Due to his wealth of knowledge, Mr. Conteh has contributed to such publications as "Perspectives on Gender in Science, Technology, and Innovation: A Review of Sub-Saharan Africa's Science Granting Councils and Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals," "1 Will Be Out There Every Day Strong! Protest Policing and Future Activism among Ferguson Protestors," and "Race, Gender, and Responses to the Police among Ferguson Residents and Protestors." Similarly, Mr. Conteh has lent his expertise to various book chapters and research reports on gender and development, HIV and AIDS, and security sector reform, facilitated and presented at high-level seminars and conferences for UN Agencies, US Army Africa Land Force Summits, and institutionalized gender in the University of Namibia's core curriculum for all first-year students.

Outside of his work, Mr. Conteh served as an associate minister with the Mount Olivet Apostolic Faith Church, Mount Vernon, New York and volunteered with the International Speakers Program (I SPEAK), at the International Studies and Programs at MSU. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with Rutgers University's and Michigan State University's African Graduate Students Association (founding President of both associations) the African Studies Association (ASA), the American Society of Criminology (ASC), and CODESRlA. An expert in his field, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history and a specialized post-graduate diploma in gender studies from the University of Namibia, a graduate diploma in leadership development in ICT and the knowledge society, Dublin City University, Ireland, a master's degree in developmental studies with a specialization in women, gender, and development from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) at Erasmus University, The Netherlands, and a Master of Science in criminal justice and law enforcement administration from MSU. Subsequently, Mr. Conteh received a master's degree in global affairs from Rutgers University, where he is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in global affairs.

In recognition of his professional achievements, Mr. Conteh won an Emerging African Scholar Award from the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), and an award from the Association for Research on Civil Society in Africa (AROSCA). Additionally, he became a gender laureate through the Council for Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) and a laureate through the U.S. State Department: International Visiting Leadership Program (IVLP). While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in his family, his extensive interdisciplinary and collaborative research, and empowering communities, especially the most vulnerable in society. Within the coming months, Mr. Conteh will defend his dissertation and carry on the work as a publicly engaged scholar.
