An expert in orchestral string instruments and mariachi education, Mr. Linert has been a music educator for over 20 years. He earned a Bachelor of Music in cello performance from the Hartt School, summa cum laude, and a Master of Science in Music Education from Indiana University in 2015. He pursued additional studies as an operatic vocalist at Indiana University. Following these accomplishments, he established his career as a music educator, performing arts department chair, and director of orchestras and mariachi for Westminster High School in Colorado.
In recognition for his teaching expertise at Westminster High School, Mr. Linert was named Teacher of the Year in 2017. He was also presented with the Colorado American String Teachers Exemplary High School Teacher Award twice, received the Arts and Culture Award from the Westminster Legacy Foundation, and was a semi-finalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award. As an advocate and educator, his goal is for everyone to have access to a high-quality music education.
Mr. Linert has given presentations regarding orchestra and mariachi education for numerous conferences including the National American String Teachers Association Conference. He currently serves on the K-12 Committee for the American String Teachers Association. Additionally, he has been the director of the mariachi workshop for the Aspen Music Festival. Beyond his work in music education and advocacy, Mr. Linert is a creator on YouTube, livestreams regularly on Twitch, and performs regularly in the community to help create a world fully enriched by music.
